Group Recovery Co-Facilitator

Let’s tackle domestic abuse together across Devon. 

Role Description: 

We are thrilled to have launched our Group Recovery Work at Fearfree in Devon this summer with our first Hope 2 Recovery online course, supporting victims of domestic abuse on their journey of recovery and self-discovery. The early signs are that the demand will be huge and so we are looking for passionate volunteers to support the Education and Recovery team to co-facilitate the programmes.  

Main tasks breakdown: 

  • Prepare our participants for their online course by telephone email and Teams making sure they are confident with the tech and all their individual access needs are met. 
  • Work closely with your Fearfree Lead facilitator to ensure weekly sessions are prepared and ready for delivery. 
  • Co-present the course online for 2 hours a week for 6 weeks  – this may be in an evening and would need a time commitments of a minimum of 4 hours a week (1 hour prep with Lead, 2 hour to deliver the course and 1 hour to record notes and follow up). 
  • Observe our participants to make sure they are safe and able to contribute fully to the course and the recovery process. 
  • Record observation notes and follow-up with Fearfree staff if participants require additional support. 

Person Specification: 

 You will be passionate about Recovery work and breaking the cycle of domestic abuse. You will have a calm compassionate friendly and non-judgemental manner and understand the importance of confidentiality and building trust with our clients. Role requirements: 

This is one of our client facing roles and will require volunteers to be confident in talking to service users and have a good level of IT skills. This role requires a minimum time commitment of half a day per week. 

Training and Support: 

Fearfree will provide general induction training as well as specific training for this role. This role offers you the opportunity to develop your skills within a dynamic team and make an incredible difference to the people we support. Opportunities to attend ongoing training and development will also be made available alongside regular supervision meetings and informal volunteer ‘drop-in’ events at our Exeter office.
