We’re thrilled to announce our first-ever Free The Night event! To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’ve proudly partnered with Still Sisters to bring you an unforgettable adventure through the streets of Trowbridge.


What is Free The Night?

Free The Night is a lively and exciting walking event set in a vibrant party atmosphere. Every step you take sends a powerful message: women and girls deserve to feel safe on our streets and secure in their homes.

Let’s Walk for Women’s Safety

Grab your glow sticks, invite your friends, and join us in taking a stand for women’s safety. Together, we can make a powerful impact!

This event has been made possible through funding from the PCC Community Action Fund and the Wiltshire Community Foundation, ensuring it’s both impactful and accessible to all.

*Please note, there is a small charge for face painting.

FAQs

Do I need to fundraise for Free the Night?

Free The Night is free but we always need your support to help us continue our life saving work. If you would like to make a donation, or walk Free The Night for sponsorship set up your JustGiving Page here.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes. Free The Night is suitable for all ages. Under 18’s  must be accompanied by an adult.

Can I bring my dog?

We’re sorry but this event is not suitable for dogs.

Can I volunteer?

Yes! We have a range of volunteering options please contact us at fundraising@fearfree.org.uk to find out more.

Where can I park?

Paid parking is available at The Shires Shopping Centre

Please be careful when driving to and from the events as the streets will be busy.

What happens if it rains?

Free the Night will go ahead with mild to moderate rain. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for the walk.

In severe weather we will postpone the event and let people know by 2pm on the 7th March.

What do I need to bring?

We recommend you bring a bottle of water and wear suitable clothing and footwear.

We will have a limited supply of glow sticks on the night so you wish to bring your own torch, glow sticks or battery operated fairy lights.

What should I wear?

Bright and fun colours! Please wear supportive, comfortable footwear and do dress for the weather. If you want, you can wear fancy dress, neon jackets and jazzy clothing.

Are there toilet facilities?

There are several toilet facilities available. Accessible toilets are located in the FearFree Charity Shop.

What time does the event end?

Free the Night ends at 8:45pm However, you can continue the fun at Still Sisters where there will be live music until 11pm.

What safety procedures are in place?

The event is fully marshalled, and first aiders will be available.

I'm a man, can I come?

Men are absolutely welcome! It’s so important to have allies in the conversation and at these events too. Free the Night is taking place on the night before International Women’s Day and focused on female safety, but we are aware that this issue affects people of all genders.

Can we do the walk at any time between 5:45pm and 8:45pm?

The banner making will be starting at 5:45pm and we’re asking everyone to get to the shop for 6:45pm for a fun optional warm up and a quick speech about the event ahead of the walk starting at 7. We will be walking through the town as a group, there is entertainment planned along the way with the walk ending around 8pm.
