Volunteer Community Speaker

Let’s break the cycle of abuse together.

Role description

FearLess gets asked to speak at many different types of events about our work and our cause. This includes to local community groups like WIs, Lions, Church groups, Rotary, networking events and more.

As a Volunteer Community Speaker, you will visit your local community groups and speak about our charity and our work– helping us to spread awareness of our cause and helping to break to taboo around it. Your talk will be guided by our official FearLess speaker presentation and each talk will be booked in advance for you by our community speaker coordinators, enabling you to just turn up at the venue and time.

We do offer our talks for free but ask for a suggested donation. This can vary anywhere from £60 – £200 plus dependent on the group.

Main task breakdown

  • Liaise with the community speaker coordinators via email or phone.
  • Attend pre booked talks within your community.
  • Deliver the FearLess presentation to your audience.
  • Feedback to the coordinators about the talk and any additional questions.
  • Help the team to develop the presentation based on audience feedback.

Person specification

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys engaging with new people, confident in presenting in front of people (20 plus) and passionate about our work. You will have good communication skills and will be punctual and organised.

Role specification

We are looking for speakers based across Wiltshire, Devon or Gloucestershire. The role will involve an element of travel to your pre-booked talk within your community – travel expenses can be claimed back. The role also requires some time flexibility, but on average 2 hours a month. Talks are most likely to be after 5pm weekday – or morning weekend. You can specify the area you’d be happy to cover and your time availability when applying.

Training and support

FearLess will provide general induction training as well as specific training for this role. Each volunteer will receive excellent, in-depth training to boost their knowledge of the charity and how to deliver the FearLess talk presentation.

This role offers you the opportunity to develop your skills within a dynamic team and make an incredible difference to the people we support. Opportunities to attend ongoing training and development will also be made available alongside regular supervision meetings.
