Volunteer Peer Support Group Leader

This is an exciting time! Let’s tackle domestic abuse together across the South West.
Peer Support Groups are community groups designed for people who have experienced domestic abuse to have a space where they can meet others and expand support networks.

Using a combination of a warm welcome, tea & biscuits, and crafts these groups will provide a supportive, understanding and inclusive space to alleviate loneliness and provide support moving forwards.

Our volunteers (at least two per sessions) will run and facilitate these groups. Keeping note of who attends, creating a welcome space, providing tea/coffee/biscuits and simultaneously holding a positive space and identifying risk escalation in order to ensure intervention and referral to the right level of support where needed.

These two hour groups are usually run during term time and will require regular commitment to a rota.

Volunteers will also be required to set up and close down the space as well as sending in brief notes so the weekly time commitment will be approximately 3.5 hours.

This is a wonderful opportunity to offer vital community support.

Training and support
FearLess will provide induction training and appropriate training to the role. This role offers the opportunity to develop skills and make an incredible difference to the people we support. The volunteer will be fully supported during their volunteering.

Volunteers may be asked to attend training events and meetings, which may be in the evening or at weekends.

Volunteers will also be asked to commit to supervision sessions on a regular basis.
This is an exciting time to be part of our leading Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence organisation. References can be requested after 3 months of active volunteering.
