How to ask for information using Clare’s Law

Clare’s Law, also known as the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS) gives you the right to know if your current or ex-partner has any previous history of domestic abuse. You can also apply for information through Clare’s Law if you are worried about someone you know.

When you make a request for information using Clare’s Law, the Police and partner agencies will carry out checks. If the checks show that the person has a record of abusive offences or there is evidence that you are at risk, they will consider sharing the information.

How to make a  Clare’s Law application.

You can make an application online using the Clare’s Law form on your local police stations website. If you are unable to use the online form , you can visit your local police station to make an application.
